Fence Patterns

Last year I decided that I needed one post that included all of my shingle patterns so that they were easy to find. Recently I realized that I should do the same with all of my fence patterns. Until I started compiling the fence patterns for this post, I hadn’t realized I had made so many! Unlike with shingle patterns, there are unlimited variations of fence patterns. As I continue to add additional fence patterns, I suspect I will need a second post, but for now this file includes the 12 fence patterns I have published in my house patterns up until now, plus two additional picket fence patterns. Look at the PDF I include with the SVG file for a quick visual of the fence patterns available to you.

The SVG and PDF files include the fence pieces in S Scale (the size of the houses on this website.) However, fences can vary wildly in height, from lawn edging to 7 foot high fences (the maximum height in the county I live in.) Think about varying the sizes of the fences in your village if you want even more variety. If you need your fences in a different scale, refer to my post about How to Change the Scale of a Pattern.

How To Use the Fence Patterns

Download the Fence Patterns

Download the Fence Patterns from A Cottage in the Forest Library. It is design #87. Don’t forget to unzip it. The pattern is available in four formats – as a SVG (scalable vector graphics), a DXF (drawing eXchange format), a Studio3 file, and as a PDF.

Import the Fence Patterns into Design Software. Once the Fence Patterns are uploaded into your software, check to make sure the pink 1″ square equals 1″, then delete it. Pick which fence style and size you want to use.

That’s it! Enjoy adding fences to the buildings in your Holiday Village! I would love to see pictures of your buildings made using my Fence Patterns. Please share a photo of them with me by emailing me at Jackie@acottageintheforest.com.
